My Blog
Our previous expedition was in the Nantahala National Forest on the Appalachian Trail. One of my favorite things we did was hike Albert Mountain. Another one of my favorite things was the snow; it was beautiful. Probably my most favorite thing was building a giant fire by myself without anybody’s help. I thought that throwing the hatchets and firing the bow and arrows were really fun to.
Albert Mountain was a very hard hike it was very steep and the tallest mountain we had to hike the whole trip. We nick named Albert Mountain fat Albert. The top of Albert Mountain was very cold and it was snowing, but at least there was a beautiful view for us to stop and look at. It was very cold at our campsite that night because we were very close to the top of Albert Mountain. Luckily we got to sleep in tents so we didn’t freeze our butts off in the middle of the night.
The snow was amazingly beautiful. I wished that there had been more snow so that we could have a foot of snow or something, that way we could have huge snowball fights. We only had about a half an inch of snow, but in some places there was about 4 inches of snow. The only bad thing about the snow was that it got our boots wet therefore when we woke up in the morning our boots were frozen. The best and worst thing about the snow was that it was very slippery.
My fire was huge, it was so hot that when you tried putting more wood on, or fixing it, it would burn your face. It was almost as tall as me! I loved it. One of the best things about it was that I made it by myself and got to enjoy the peace by myself too. I loved it so much, my design on it was the perfect set up, but it’s kind of hard to explain; I’d have to show you.
The hatchet throwing was great. Preston knocked down both targets. The bows and arrows were great too. A few kids hit the bulls-eye. Sophie also made a big fort with a few other kids.
Overall the whole expedition was great. Even though a few parts were miserable, the rest was so great it just made it even better. The worst parts weren’t so bad after all because the experience wouldn’t have been as good without the miserable moments. So all together I had a great time during the previous expedition.
Hi Tiger! So.... let me get this straight, you love to build fires and you love snow (lots of it)! The trip sounds like it was a huge success and that once again you had an opportunity to see another part of the trail with gorgeous views! I hope you are taking pictures to share with all of us when you return home. And I am definitely looking forward to you making us a fire when you get home.
ReplyDeleteThe other night I wrote a poem just for you and I hope you like it.
ADD

Letters mean nothing to me
You mean everything to me
Some use labels
Lettters and labels mean nothing to me
You mean everything to me
You are special
Special to me
Possessing gifts and traits beyond belief
Gifts and traits that others will never see if you hide behind letters and labels
Gifts and traits that when embraced will set you free
Free from letters and labels
Free to be all that you can be

But you my son
You mean everything to me
I hope when you read my poem that what you hear is how proud I am of you, how much I love you and admire you, today, tomorrow and always. When I tell you I love you more than my life (ILYMTML) these are not simply words they are words of truth which are filled with love, hope, dreams and admiration for you and your happiness. I didn't mean to go on and on..
